Aftercare ✢
Aftercare ✢
You’ll receive a scroll of healing (aftercare instructions) upon completion. It contains the following instructions:
leave the cling film on for a minimum of 1 hour, but no longer than 4 or 5 hours. Best keep it on just before you jump into the shower.
Remove the cling film - wash thoroughly with hot water (no soap for the first wash). This is best done in a clean shower.
After cleaning, Pat dry with a clean paper towel. (For the first night, don’t put any cream on to your tattoo, and before bed, re-wrap your tattoo with clean cling film).
The next morning, take-off the cling film again and have a shower first thing. Make sure you get all off the plasma (the slimy stuff) off the tattoo and use a gentle antibacterial wash.
Pat dry with clean paper towel, and use a thin layer of aftercare cream of choice (Hustle Butter, Bepanthan, etc.).
keep repeating this process for one to two weeks, making sure to wash your tattoo once or twice a day. Limit your showers to 10 minutes, or less.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Get a Good Night's Rest
Stay Hydrated
Avoid Alcohol for 24 - 48 Hours
It's best to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before getting tattooed. Alcohol can thin the blood, which may increase bleeding during the process and affect the final quality of the tattoo.
Wear Comfy Clothing
Comfort is key. Choose loose-fitting clothing that provides easy access to the area being tattooed
Eat a Substantial Meal
Fuelling up before your appointment helps maintain your energy and blood sugar levels, keeping you comfortable and focused
Bring Entertainment
Depending on your tattoo's size, you may be in the studio for a few hours. We recommend bringing a book, downloading a podcast, or curating a playlist to keep your mind occupied and your body relaxed.
Moisturise Daily (But Not on the Day)
Moisturise the area regularly in the days leading up to your appointment to ensure your skin is hydrated and supple.
Avoid tanning or excessive sun exposure
on the area for at least four weeks before your appointment.
Avoid using harsh exfoliants or scrubs
on the area in the days leading up to your appointment.
Other healing Advice
Avoid Submerging your tattoo in water
Swimming, the ocean, baths, hot tubs, saunas, etc. These WILL make your tattoo fade fast, heal poorly and greatly raises the risk of infection.
Prevent sun damage
Stay out of the sun/ cover up the tattoo from the sun, as a sunburn will make your tattoo heals poorly. Do not put sunscreen on in the healing process (first two weeks.)
Do NOT pick at your tattoo!
scratching/itching/picking can pull out the ink in you Tattoo, leaving your
tattoo to heal poorly. Let your scabs do their thing. If your tattoo itches, you can gently slap/ tap around the area.
Stay hydrated
Drink plenty of water to support your overall health and improve skin elasticity.
Avoid Scented lotion/ soap.
Avoid the Gym and/or extreme exercise
Avoid going to the gym during the healing phase, as the gym is full of Bactria that could lead to infection. avoid exercise that will cause you to sweat excessively.
Saniderm/Second Skin
If using second skin, make sure that you are not allergic before you use it - as it may cause irritation.
If you use Saniderm and similar bandages. You can leave on up to 5 days. Remove in shower after running warm/hot water on it for a few minutes to loosen up the adhesive. Wash tattoo with soap and air dry.
